A blame-free structure for starting a sensitive conversation without trying to solve everything at once.

  1. Step 1

    Choose the moment

    Ask for a short conversation outside the bedroom, when neither person is rushed or already upset.

  2. Step 2

    Use observation and preference

    Try: ‘I have noticed…’ followed by ‘I would like us to try…’ instead of blame, diagnosis, or criticism.

  3. Step 3

    End with one shared experiment

    Agree on one low-pressure next step, such as reading a guide together or setting aside ten minutes to reconnect.
